If you wish to stand please contact me at the postal or email address below. You will need three European and two Australasian nominators, a 100 word platform as well as a bond of £15 (25 AUD). If you wish to stand and are unsure about how to go about getting any of these things, what the fund pays for or the duties of a GUFF delegate then feel free to contact me in confidence at the email address below.

Nominations are open until the Friday before Novacon 39 (13th November) and candidates will be announced on the Sunday (15th November). Voting will then run until the Monday of Eastercon 2010.

Please disseminate widely.

Dear friendslist.

I was planning to go to Australia with Singapore airlines but they are fine going Man - Perth - Adelaide - Man, but rubbish the other way round. Current options for arrival at Adelaide and departure from Perth are:

BA at approx £820 with a change in London and Melbourne on the way out and Singapore and London on the way back. Niggly stopover times at Heathrow.

Emirates at approx £900 with direct flights from Manchester to Dubai but changing on the way out Perth - Adelaide with a 5 hour wait.

Singapore at approx £1000 with a single change in both directions but a long stopover at Singapore. I can't actually book this as a round flight so I'm tempted to get a return to Perth at £816 and book Perth/Adelaide separately.

What do you think? My cost cutting head says go BA but I think the changes will wear me down. Emirates represents the best overall value but I don't know what the journey is like and I know nothing about the airline. Singapore is the dearest but also seems to make the most sense as Singapore airport is supposed to be the best place to be stuck for hours.

Anyone got any sensible input to make at this point?

EDIT: All bets are off! Return flight from Manchester to Perth with Emirates booked and I'll just have to sort my middle bit out separately...
