But I am off. I'm collecting brother from the airport in the afternoon. I might email laura and remind her of that fact before this day goes on my sick record.

I'm finally reading my generously given "anonymous" gift of The Potato by Larry Zuckerman. It's choc-full of exciting potato facts which I'm going to save and the whip out to impress during polite conversation.

It was strange reading yesterday about the 18th century british diet. On the day that research was warning us to cut down of red meat I was discovering that a typical british meal consisted of a lb or so of meat *each* and roots where seen as only fit for swine. It's amazing how much things have changed in only a couple of centuries.
