Thwarted!!!

Multiple exclamation marks. The sign of a deranged mind.

Two thwarting events have taken place. I thwarted Max in her attempt to wipe the floor with me in Literati (71 points from a 7 letter on a triple word) by resigning the game. She got the points but she didn't get the glory.

I've been thwarted at booking my holiday too. We want to go on a silly beach holiday this year. Caroline was supposed to sort it out but she really doesn't have the dedication required to get cheap holiday bargains. So, I have to do it for her. She doesn't want to owe me the money so it has to be booked on her credit card and because she is so busy I have to do it.

Guess what? The booking can't be confirmed until Caroline has been spoken to. And Caroline is uncontactable in work. Grrrrrrrr.

I can see my two weeks in Malta slipping away...

I am the Queen!

I have been having discipline problems at my Brownies.

This is something that just doesn't happen to me. I have always run a very informal group, and the Brownies have always respected it. They come, they have a good time, they do what they want and they leave. I ask them to be on their best behaviour, then they do it. Every single one.

Until a little bit ago.

It started with one, then two, then three girls who just messed around. Last week was the last straw... wtihout going into detail three requests for them to behave were ignored. I had to take them *out of the room*. So, tonight was little chat time :)

I explained that Brownies isn't my job. That I come to Brownies because I *like* being with them. I explained that I don't enjoy shouting at them. I told them that I don't think it if fair that "naughty" children take time from the others. I told them that I was embarrassed to ask any new Brownies to join because of their behaviour.

The tough nuts wound their behaviour back to tolerable. The good okay brownies became good. The good Brownies where almost saint-like in their behaviour.

I almost had one of the "on the cusp" kids in tears.

I give them two weeks until their behaviour is just as bad :(
