More about salt.
I passed "Sid the Slug"* on a billboard this morning, the emblem of the Salt is Evil campaign. I don't really want to see a 6 ft slug in the morning, even a comically drawn one.
It appears that the supermarkets have stuck two fingers up to the government over drastic reductions in salt levels and are continuing with their own initiatives. I particularly like the claim from Tesco that they "never received" the government communication. As excuses go it's up there with "the dog ate my homework".
As I said in a previous comment to
lproven I was shocked to find that my jar of pesto had more rock salt in it than pine nuts. Shocked and faintly disgusted and determined to make my own pesto from now on. It did make me curious to see if by avoiding heavily processed foods and such for four weeks I could lower my blood pressure as the scientists claim.
I've access to Dad's reader so I could check it if I wanted to. Hmmm. I'll have to think about this...
*Incorrectly called Sammy this morning.
