Something nasty is happening to my home computer. A big wodge of memory seems to be getting eaten up and Zone Alarm fails to initialise. Some stuff has been done this morning to fix it but looks like I'll be working on it tonight.

Last night was the final trip to the theatre this season for The Lady of Leisure (The Mollusc). Overall this season was far more balanced and enjoyable and the peformances we saw well-attended. Hopefully this means it will continue to build.

I've been quite strict this year about going to London for theatre so Caroline brought the Old Vic booklet in to tempt me - Robert Lindsay is doing The Entertainer from Feb next year. Mmmmph! How can I say no to THAT?

I've always said that I wouldn't want a garden. There's something fairly useless about a lawn and while I like looking at flowers I don't really understand why anyone would go to the trouble of growing loads of them. Wandering around the allotment tonight I come to realise that I would actually enjoy a garden, as long as I used most of it to grow vegetables.

I've now been given some pumkins by a work colleague. I've no idea if they are cool big orange pumpkins or the sort of fancy squashes you see but I suppose I'll have to plant them to find out. Pumkin belongs to the relatively small family of vegetables that makes me ill if I eat them [1] so I won't get the benefit if they grow although my sister-in-law will. She claims that I see her as some sort of human dustbin. This isn't true. I see her more as a composter.

Tomatoes watered, discernable weeds hoed, rhubarb harvested and PTIACJA[2] given a hard stare. I had planned to plant some pots of veg in the greenhouse but I left the seeds at home so that was a bit rubbish. Tomorrow in work I might get the A3 paper and crayons out and make a proper plan.

[1]Although the effect isn't as dramatic as that produced by the evil pepper.
[2]Plant that is almost certainly jerusalem artichoke
