My niece informs me that I smell of dirt.

Most of my allotmenteering this week has been emergency watering of my most fragile crops (the leafy veg, tomatoes and courgettes). Today I spent some time weeding - I'm afraid it's got into a bit of a state due to my inability to identify seed and weed. Fortunately the herbs are finally on track as mature dill is pretty noticeable and, once the leaves "proper" have developed, you can give them a squeeze and see if they smell herby. Coriander, Dill and Parsley are good but the sage, thyme and, suprisingly, mint are suffering. The basil and marjoram suffered slug damage early on and I'm not holding my breath.

The maincrop potatoes have started to flower which means my rather slapdash watering needs to be re-evaluated. Now they need to be kept relatively moist. The earlies I didn't really look at closely but I'm tempted to dig one plant up next weekend to see what I have. I keep forgetting it's June and I can start to harvest.
