Friday we took Dominic out for lunch at a Chinese restaurant.

I get the feeling that we missed the point of work experience. The lad believes that all we do is sit around drinking coffee and eating biscuits and then every week go out for a chinese meal. I mean, while that is suprisingly accurate we also have students around, sometimes, who we treat as an irritating infection.

The chinese restaurant is situated over a speciality supermarket so I took the opportunity to get some food for Saturday evening. Some crispy seaweed, some ribs, a portion of singapore noodles and some chicken for a sweet and sour. As it was frozen I left it in the car to defrost when I went back into work and eat the last of the biscuits that Dominic had bought me.

On the way home I lifted the bag of groceries from the back of the car to the front. This proved to be a spectacularly stupid thing to do. My char sui ribs where packed very badly (following the convention in this area, the item most likely to leak and make a disgusting mess was the only item not hermetically sealed) and in the process of lifting I covered the car with sloppy red sauce.

As the package sat there slowly leaking, I scrabbled around for something to contain the mess. Unable to reach the paper on the back seat I shoved the plastic bag into another bag, and stuck the ribs flat on the dashboard. Every time I traversed an island I had to catch the ribs as they flew along the shelf. When I got home there was little of my car that wasn't covered with sweet smelling, bright red sauce.

So, Saturday afternoon I spent two hours cleaning my car. It broke my heart to do it, but there you go. The coke stain has gone. The leaves have gone. The childrens hand-prints on the back windows have gone. I even *hoovered* it.

I give it a week before I drop some chips in it.
