It stopped raining!
So last night I hoed over the lettuce bed and planted mixed lettuce and radishes and reconstructed my pea protection. Then I started to try and deal with the PTIACJC. My plan was to trim it away from the path, clear it from either side (but more importantly the strawberry patch) and leave a thin strip that would, hopefully, produce stock for next year.
Problem 1. It was unshiftable with the spade and I nearly did my back in. The fork did a lot better work.
Problem 2. The runners are so densely matted that I've no idea if I can leave any of it in and get a nice start for next year.
Problem 3. Given that it ripped my gloves, bruised my fingers and gave me a number of suspicious scratches I'm not sure I want to.
After nearly an hour of work I'd filled a couple of wheelbarrows, killed about 10 HUGE snails and startled a number of birds with my language. I reckon I've cleared about a third of it but that was after a slow start.
