The abortive jobs from yesterday that I abandonded when the hedge became too much of a job.

# Cut the last 3/4 of thehedge. Ah, okay, I've done half now.
# Weed the other part of the bean "enclosure"
# Plant more mangetout, plus the runner beans and french beans.
# Plant sunflowers and nasturtiums.
# Prepare last bit of allotment for planting brassicas during the week/next weekend.
# If time start weeding around the fruit bushes.
# Buy plants to stick in the flower bit by the shed.

Looks like ideal allotment weather. See you later.

My allotment seems to operate in a completely different time frame. Spent 5 hours there but only managed two of the jobs. Admittedly sorting out by the shed took a lot longer than I expected. There was some sort of tuberous beast just under the soil so I had to dig that out. Then I dug over, weeded, planted my new flowering shrubs, put down weed membrane and then covered the area in chippings. So now I shouldn't have to do more than keep one eye on that area. I wouldn't tell Dad how much I spent but I think he could guess and thinks I am insane.

The membrane + chippings is also a trial run for my master plan. If it does a good job of keeping weeds down I'm going to use it to make paths between my raised beds.
One good thing was that I found log fencing panels in B&Q which I reckon can by nailed together to make a fairly sturdy raised bed the right size for me. It works out at 12 quid each bed.
