Lords reform? Who cares!
Thousands of redundancies? Old news!
Paedophile judges stalking the streets? Why worry!

Inappropriate use of kitchen towelage? Tell me more!

Tell me about your tea towels - poll behind cut )

All this because we had a discussion about air drying vs towel drying dishes over coffee yesterday. Then I was watching a TV show last night with a kid cutting tomatoes on a tea towel. Suddenly I need to know typical tea towel usage is.

Oh, in case the phrase confuses you, a tea towel is a cloth used in the kitchen. I think it's sometimes called a glass cloth or drying cloth.

*sigh*

Five weeks ago I telephoned Breathe+ and asked them to come and value my house (they'd put fliers through the door telling me they are a cash buyer). The lady I spoke to told me I would be dealt with in "two or three weeks."

I've heard nothing.

Last night Caroline telephoned and told me about a house for sale in her road. Now, Caroline's road *on the whole* isn't that salubrious however this house was at the top end, and a semi, fairly unimproved and, I think, something of a bargain. I rang the estate agents an hour ago to ask for a viewing. I was told they had to speak to the vendor and would get back to me.

I've heard nothing. Then again it's not been that long.

Sooooooo. I've rung Breathe (via several council departments. It seems that nobody actually WANTS to be contacted) who now tell me that they are no longer in charge of the valuation process.

Breathe: "Have you had a letter from the council?"
Me: "What, ever?"

Now I need to talk to the HMRI office and chase whoever is dealing with it. She didn't sound hopeful, though, about my chances of getting a valuation in the near future.

So here I am trapped by the office phone when I really need to be somewhere else, trying to contact someone who is seemingly constantly on the phone and waiting in vague hope for the most incompetent estate agents in the area to call me back.

*sigh*

*does some work*

I've just telephoned the worst estate agent in Bootle and given them a new contact number as I have to leave the office.

I finally tracked down the council guy. Now I have write a formal request for them to come and value my house. They have 80 homes to value, you know, no idea when they can come and do mine.

*sigh*

Off to do work in another building and wait for phone to be answered.
