Worst Doctor Who yet.

EDIT: Oh, okay, I'll tell you why I hated it.

I thought that cartoon monsters was a good concept but ultimately they wasted it. I thought the acting and direction was awful (which I feel a bit disloyal about because I *like* Euros when I see him on Confidential) and they practically painted "the pod is in the tarmac" in big letters at the start of the episode.

What I particularly hated, however, was everything from the Olympics audience disappearing onward. I was initially bemused as to why it had been set then until I witnessed the cheesy run with the flame. I felt sick, and I'd already taken my magic tablet.

Haven't seen it, probably won't bother

Really? And the standard had already been set so low.

Trust me. It was only the promise of Arg Vs Mex that kept me switched on.

The worst bit for me, was that it seemed to be a fantastic episode, and a really unspeakably bad episode edited together in regular slices, so you couldn't just sit back and enjoy the fab bits as you were always braced for the atrocities of writing which would make you want to stab yourself in tge eye you knew were coming.

Actually, scratch that, it's bollocks. The worst bit was when THE POWER OF LOVE MADE MAGICAL PIXIE FLOWERS COME OUT OF A LITTLE GIRL'S MOUTH! *agog*

It was still better than the last two parter though. Even with parental issues all over the shop, and the magical flowers of love and fluffy.

I thought this was worst than that. I mean, Ood Man!

Good bit: They had a car numberplate from the future! TF09
I liked the "caaaahnsill" bit. And Rose wielding a pickaxe!

Bad bit: Doctor Who grabbing the Olympic torch. You can travel through the entirety of time and space - do you really need to jump into the centre of attention of every event you go to? Can't you just fix things then fade into the background as "my work here is done" and leave the contemporary inhabitants to, well, get to have their life back?

No, because then you couldn't have a shot of him lighting The Olympic flame that was so obviously unlike any other shot of the flame being lit ever, in the world, ever.

I'M SO ANGRY I WANT TO DRAW A PICTURE OF RTD[1] AND THEN EAT IT!

[1] I know he didn't write it but buck stops here and all that.

Maybe you could draw a picture in mashed potato, with gravy ;-)

Can I do the same after you do, just for added emphasisis? :P

I disliked this episode immensely, too. There were bits I liked (ie, Rose getting to 'do stuff', and trying to save the world by herself; the TARDIS landing in the wrong position to begin with; and a few other bits that I can't remember right now) but there were bits I LOATHED: the whole Olympic torch thing, the whole 'mind-meld' thing which just didn't work in 'The Girl in the Fireplace' and certainly didn't work now, and the whole "love" thing which solved everything in the end. Do they think we are that stupid? NO. ARGH.

Sorry if this comes across as unnecessarily harsh, I'm back after a night out and I had a few glasses of wine so I'm slightly more angry about the episode than I ordinarily would be...

And after the Vulcan Mind Meld/The Exorcist bit, couldn't they have just taken Chloewebber in the Tardis to where the Asolias were, so it could rejoin its siblings? I guess they would still have needed the pod.

Even more spooky... did we ever see a pencil being sharpened? In my experience any colouring implement in the hand of a pre-teen girl snaps, crumbles or runs out within the first five strokes.

How many small children will grow up to watch the 2012 opening ceremony and be REALLY REALLY PISSED OFF?

Or will that just be me then?

I'm sure that even now the BBC have a tiny clause in the worldwide television rights that says "and a thin scottish actor in an overlarge coat must light the flame"

I'm just confused about why all the banners had the London 2012 bid logo on instead of the official games logo.

Mind you, I'm certifiably insane.

I thought that it was most like an inept remake of an episode of Sapphire and Steel.

A new olympic record...

.. for most cliches in a single episode?

... and most spoilers in a trailer for next week?

The only trailer I've seen this week that has been worse than the Doctor Who one was another BBC jobbie.

This week's episode of the Convent ends with "Will Victoria return?" etc.
Next week's trailer: There's Victoria!
