guy next to me in the internet bit has just left his phone on the side next to me. It's funny how you can't find someone to pass lost property to when you find some.

I'm knackered and unimpressed that my flight is delayed by at least 200 minutes.

You shouldn't have to go to this sort of trouble, but if you're inclined and feeling public-spirited, why not:

- phone someone in his address book to get his name, then:
- get whoever does this stuff in airports to put out an announcement, "will Mark Wilson please go to his own telephone?"

I've done that when I've found a mobile in the past ("Mom" is always a good entry to try)

No need. Once my internet time had finished I used the description given to me by the woman sitting behind to seek him out. Then, once I found him, we moved together to find the airport staff person I'd given the phone to (who, of course, had done nothing with it) and got it back. He was very grateful. He thanked me again when he was running past because they'd moved his departure from gate A65 to gate A14.

If this had been a movie we would have exchanged numbers, there would have been a series of implausible events and eventually we would have realised our destiny together. As it was I just saved him having to go to the trouble of getting a new phone and putting all his numbers in again.

200 minutes? Urgh. I was once at Stansted waiting for a Ryanair flight when they admitted that the *previous* Dublin flight hadn't left yet....

Um... extra nought slipped in there while I was hurriedly typing. 20 minutes, which turned into 10, then was actually arriving early.

Don't arsk me.

(my worst delay ever was from Jersey to Manchester when they shepherded us into the departures lounge *just* before the point - 3 hours IIRC - they are legally required to compensate us then trapped us there with no access to food, drink or telephone for another hour.)

My father-in-law once found a mobile on the road. Not knowing what to do with it, he handed it to my wife. She tracked the owner down by dialing the 'Home' entry. He was very grateful, and gave us a bottle of wine as a thank you.

The brand (and my apologies for this) was a red wine called Dogs Bollocks - and that is not a joke.

We decided not to pass that on to Dad.

PS - good to see you at the weekend.
