A little bit late (Torchwood)

Gosh, I've been busy this weekend. Didn't get in until nearly 11.30 after our Torchwood watching soiree and dragging myself out of bed was a struggle this morning.
I felt very sorry for David last night, trapped in a room with four women watching Cap'n Jack run around in a military coat. That said he coped well and only winced once or twice.
As other friendlisters have pointed out Jack works best as a character when he is an irreverent, dangerous element. As a central character he lost a lot of his sparkle and I'm hoping he'll get a bit of if knocked back into him once we've got Gwennie bedded in a bit. On that note: cracking performance, there. Although I found myself becoming fascinated by her uneven eyes.
As to the adult content. Bleedin' hell. Saying fuck a few times and a relatively tame sex scene does not adult entertainment make.
First episode: the ending seemed to run up far too quickly. Didn't like the date rape aspect of it at all (although I like Burn Gorman - nice to see he's playing another slimy creep).
Second episode: a lot better although I wasn't convinced that cell could contain an alien that was gaseous.
Obviously I'll be sticking with it but with a 10 pm Sunday showtime I'll probably be taping it and taking myself off to bed rather than sitting up to watch.

Torchwood was OK, but not really really brilliant. Is the plot just going to be the same as Dr Who then - a new monster to fight every week?

RTD said in an interview quoted on the BBC News site that the swearing early on in the first episode was there mainly to remind parents that it's not a show for kids.
