I know it's wrong of me.

The Boss Hoss didn't really impress me that much until they covered "Word Up". This was obviously the song they were created to sing:

It is like the ultimate in Karaoke tunes. ANYONE can sing Word Up and sound good.

Try it and see!

Eh? It's not the vocal it's the musical interpretation.

To my mind, there is only one good version of Word Up, and that's Cameo's:

Go here

Sadly, not the really rather splendid performance they gave on TOTP around that time, in which the remarkable red codpiece seemed to take a starring role, thanks to the camera angles, but I prefer the crispness of their performance to anything I've heard since.

I'd never argue that it was better than the original but it makes me smile, almost as much.

Word Up is one of those songs that you can hardly believe how old it is...

And is that Geordie La Forge playing the cop?

I believe that is indeed LeVar Burton.

Never really heard of them before, but I think that is brilliant. Gee-tar!

Their cover of "Ring ring ring" is also pretty special. I love a reinterpretive cover.
